Merchandise Manager


Forefront Networks produces large-scale public events including the Trail of Lights in Austin, TX and is currently looking for an experienced Merchandise Manager to join our team.  The Merchandise Manager is responsible for building a product catalog, managing e-commerce and on site related merchandise business centers, developing merchandising and sales plans, overseeing operations and logistics, and managing comprehensive procurement and fulfillment.  The ideal candidate is one who has had past managerial experience and a background in leading or participating in the planning, development, and deployment of merchandise centers at events.

Merchandise Manager (Based in Austin, TX)

Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, VP of Hospitality, and Event Director the Merchandise Manager will own all planning, operations, sales and logistics related to event merchandise including e-commerce sales and on-site event sales.   This role requires significant coordination, organization, financial acumen, spatial planning, merchandising planning, creativity, and trend awareness.   

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Pre-event / season (June – Nov)

  • Migrate e-commerce site to new software platform
    • Re-build site or components of site as needed
  • Develop e-commerce product catalog
  • Develop on-site product catalog
  • Interview and secure product vendors & manage relationships
  • Create and propose financial plan including inventory investments and re-order schedules including item costs, price points, margins, turn around time, revenue, and volume projections
  • Create on-site operational & sales plans
  • Secure fulfillment vendors & manage relationships & processes
  • Create logistics plan & time tables to meet forecasted demand
  • Interface with marketing team to develop e-commerce marketing plans for B2C & B2B
  • Plan procurement, fulfillment, & logistics relating to corporate hospitality gifting

In-event / season (Nov – Dec)

  • Manage & maintain e-commerce platform related operations including ordering, shipping, fulfillment, customer service, and inventory levels
  • Manage on-site logistics & operations including ordering, delivery, fulfillment, merchandising, and selling optimization
  • Ensure on-site selling centers are staffed appropriately with trained personnel
  • Operationalize & manage corporate gifting procurement and fulfillment

Post event / season (Dec – Jan)

  • Retrieve and store any unsold inventory
  • Create remnant sales plan for unsold inventory
  • Minimize on-going costs of e-commerce platform until next selling season
  • Develop & present wrap report & insights for business center improvements


  • Proven track record of success in merchandise planning and management
  • 3-5+ years experience
    • working with & managing e-commerce platforms
    • working with & managing event merchandise programs (large scale events preferred)
  • Ability to consistently drive results to meet & exceed agreed upon goals
  • Understanding of current event merchandise trends
  • Ability to communicate at various levels of an organization
  • Be meticulous with details & posses solid planning & management skills
  • Have excellent presentation, written & verbal communication skills
  • Be flexible & enjoy working with people
  • Strong organization & prioritization abilities
  • Strong knowledge of PC software programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Four year degree in business, communication, retail merchandising, marketing, or applicable field preferred
